John offers comprehensive services in all areas of real estate, be it residential sales, rentals, land or commercial property. His main focus is in the Eastern End of Long Island, though he always keeps a close eye on the NYC market and South Florida as well where many of his clients own property.
John chose Corcoran because of the firm’s superior reputation and market share domination in NYC and Long Island’s East End. His seasoned knowledge of economic cycles, interest rates, finance, marketing, and managing client relationships allows him to bring the most in-depth, high-quality service to his clients. “Each real estate property and each deal is unique. It is very important to know the financial markets as well as the real estate market because they are closely correlated.”
John spends most of the year living on beautiful Shelter Island; plus he has an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. He understands the wants and needs of people who seek to own in both locations or want to move out east permanently.
Born and raised in New York City, John is a graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics. Prior to becoming a licensed real estate agent, he spent 18 years in finance on Wall Street, 17 of which were at Brown Brothers Harriman and Co. in the investment management department where he oversaw, managed and traded $7 billion in fixed income assets for institutional and private wealth clients.
On the personal side, John is an avid golfer and member of Gardiner’s Bay Country Club. He travels when possible to play at different courses around the country. John also sails J111 big boats from the Shelter Island Yacht Club, loves cooking and hosting dinner parties, and supports many local charities. John still enjoys playing ice hockey with the New York City Fire Department’s Elmhurst Eagles in the Nassau County “Hotshots” league. His favorite time is spent with his black Labrador, Tiki.
